Maimi Sightings for January 7th
Hello! Project soloist Mano Erina shared this 3-shot with the two people who she loves, Maimi and Tsugunaga Momoko, in an update on her official blog. Mano explained that she was expressing her gratitude with her pose, and Maimi and Momo were expressing their sadness that it’s Mano’s final Hello! Project concert tour.

JIJIPRESS coverage of “Chou HAPPY SONG” event
The JIJIPRESS YouTube channel uploaded a video report on Berikyuu’s “Chou HAPPY SONG” event held at Tokyo Dome yesterday. The members participating in the Tokyo event were Maimi, Tsugunaga Momoko (Berryz Koubou), Sudou Maasa (Berryz), Sugaya Risako (Berryz), Okai Chisato (℃-ute), and Hagiwara Mai (℃-ute). The video includes short clips of the girls performing Berryz’s “Because happiness”, ℃-ute’s “Shiawase no Tochuu”, and then the Berikyuu song that comes from combining the two songs, “Chou HAPPY SONG”. Also shown is a corner from the event where Maasa asked each girl to show their favorite pose from the choreography for “Chou HAPPY SONG”. Maimi chose the part of the dance where they hug each other, but Mai revealed that until recently Maimi always forgot to hug her. Momoko then goaded Maimi into apologizing to Mai, which she did by mimicking Momoko’s catchphrase “Yurushite, nyan!”.
In a backstage intervew segment, Maimi asked each of the members what was something that makes them “super HAPPY” recently. Maimi herself answered first, explaining that she really loves sweets and lately she becomes super happy when she has waffles with ice cream on them. After sharing all their answers, the girls wrapped up the video by promoting the upcoming Hello! Project summer tour and the Berikyuu photobook “Rival”.

As mentioned by Maimi in yesterday’s update, a release commemoration handshake event was held to commemorate the release of the Berryz Koubou & ℃-ute collaboration photobook, “Berikyuu Island”. According to the reports, much of the focus of the event was on the interactions between Maimi and Berryz Koubou’s Tsugunaga Momoko. Here’s some highlights from the articles:
When asked what she thought of Momoko, Maimi said that she thought her character was too strong when they were on stage together. Momoko immediately snapped back saying that it’s not a character, but that she’s been that way since birth. Maimi also said that it was fresh, but also a little bit bothersome when Momoko pressured her to say Momoko’s catchphrase, “Yurushite-nyan” (“Forgive me, nyan”), together with her.
The fact that Olympic marathon runner Yamamoto Ryou is a fan of Berryz Koubou and ℃-ute was brought up, which caused Momoko to declare that her time had come. But when Momoko was told that his favorite member is Maimi, she instantly became depressed. Maimi tried to smooth things over by saying “Yurushite-nyan”, but Momoko declared that she’d never forgive her. On the subject of Yamamoto, Maimi said that she becomes happy when she thinks that they were having fun together in the same place when he came to see their concerts, and that she wants to support him with all her power, adding “Do your best!”. She also hoped that Tsunku would create a song to support Yamamoto, to which Momoko enthusiastically said that she would want to sing that song and have him fall in love with her.
