Berryz and ℃-ute to appear in “King Game” movie
In addition to their joint play “Sengoku Jieitai” and the revival of their legendary “Nakayoshi Battle Concert” later this year, the members of Berryz Koubou and ℃-ute will also be teaming up for a suspense-horror film titled “King Game”. While all members will be present, the film will focus on the characters played by Berryz Koubou’s Kumai Yurina and ℃-ute’s Suzuki Airi. Former Morning Musume member Yoshizawa Hitomi will also appear in the film. The movie is based on the cellphone novel of the same name, and is due to release this winter. From the Oricon Style article on the movie, here is a short description of the movie:
One night, Honda Chiemi (Kumai) and her childhood friend Kanazawa Nobuaki (Sakurada Dori) receive a text. The sender is “King”, and the subject is “King Game”. It says that if you don’t complete the king’s order in 24 hours, you will be punished. From that day, everyone in the class receives a text from “King”, and at first all of the students complete the orders while joking around, but the content of the orders escalate. Finally, two classmates who didn’t complete the order receive “punishment”. That is the beginning of the classmates being wiped out one by one. What in the hell is the king’s goal!? Having gotten closer to the king’s true colors along with Iwamura Rie (Suzuki), who calmy gazes at the other classmates by herself, the greatest tragedy will befall Chiemi…

woah….the synopsis was kinda gripping….I’ll love to be able to watch this but I don’t think it’ll be made available to me where I am…unless it gets uploaded on youtube or something =(
I can see a kind of niche horror movie like this being released outside of Japan (at least on DVD), but I guess it depends ultimately on the scope of the Japanese release. If it’s just a v-cinema (straight-to-DVD) release like “Keitai Kanojo” or “Black Angels”, I wouldn’t count on it. But if it gets a full theatrical release (and how great would that be) I’d say there’s a chance.
But no matter what happens, it’ll definitely end up on the internet somewhere (and likely fansubbed), so I don’t think anyone has to worry about missing out.
especially since it will involve so many idols… so many fans means it’s very doubtful a video won’t be available and fansubbed.
i really hope it will be a full theatrical release, but have a feeling it will be more of a straight-to-DVD affair.
thanks BG….you seem to be a very intelligent man…I wonder why you haven’t gotten a Nobel Price yet? xD
lol It’s just my speculation based on what I’ve seen in the past. I could be completely wrong.
ooops typo I meant Prize***
so much BeriKyuu is really awesome to see!!!
they can cast them as classmates now that maimai and chisa are more grown up… imagine kuma-chan and maimai as classmates?! xD
i wonder maimi’s role in the movie. i see the name but it’s not on the list of classmates according to the original story.
Yeah, I looked everywhere (including death spoilers), but it seems there a lot of new characters that the H!P girls play. I guess they’d have to do that though, or everyone would know what happens.
true, plus perhaps to accommodate more female idols (and fewer male roles). therefore maimi could play a role equivalent to airi’s boyfriend… well, one can but dream! xD
