Daily Maimi for 2/28: “KAN-san’s live”
In her entry today on the official ℃-ute blog, Maimi wrote that 2011 is going by fast, as it’s already the last day of February. Then, she wrote that yesterday she went to see Kimura KAN’s live, “Hikigatari Battari #13”. Since she had work beforehand, she wasn’t able to arrive in time for the beginning, and instead arrived midway through. Regardless, Maimi wrote that she still had fun, and was considerably motivated by KAN’s piano playing. She wondered how his fingers became able to play such difficult songs, but then found herself drawn into his singing. Maimi wrote that his speaking was also captivating, and overheard people in the seats next to her saying “This is really fun~!!!!”. She thought it was really amazing to be able to make people have that kind of fun in a limited amount of time, and admitted that she too was laughing so hard that she cried. Maimi was seated where she could see out over the audience and noticed everyone laughing with wonderful smiles. Another thing that Maimi noticed was that while she was laughing with the rest of the audience, everyone was drawn into the world of the music once it started playing. Maimi wrote that KAN’s live was amazing this time, and that she’d like to make everyone’s hearts that happy next time her and the others have a live. For that, she think she has to work harder and harder to overcome her weaknesses. She vowed to work hard and to go out with a fighting spirit for the final day of February. Lastly, since she has an iPRESS CAFE event today with Mai, she wrote that was going to tanobaru.
At Sweet time, Maimi updated that it was snowing again and that her hands have grown numb from the cold. She then updated after her iPRESS CAFE event with Mai saying that even though it was short it was a wonderful time, and she thanked everyone who came. Maimi’s last update of the day was a reminder to everyone who’d be awake to tune into her and Chisato on “Tatekawa Shirano’s Subculture Tengoku” at 1:30AM.
Daily Maimi for 2/27: “Battle!! Yajima”
In her update on the official ℃-ute blog, Maimi asked all those who have hayfever how they were doing, since it seemed to her like there was a lot of pollen fluttering about in the air. Maimi’s counter-measure to the hayfever which she invented this year is to declare “I don’t have hayfever!!”… however the plan’s effectiveness only lasted one day. Now Maimi’s eyes are really itchy, she wrote, and since if she rubs her eyes they will become swollen, she’s enduring the itchness. Maimi asked all those people with hayfever to work hard together with her. Next, Maimi wrote that yesterday was another sword battle practice for the “Ran -2011 New version!!-” play in May, and that as the practices add up, she finds various personal challenges for herself. Since there’s a lot of instructors around, and they’re practicing in a place where she can shout and move her body with all her might, she will clear her challenges one-by-one and have a play that she’s happy everyone came to see. Lastly, Maimi added a picture of her and Chisato from when they went to eat after appearing on NACK5’s “HITS THE TOWN!” yesterday.
At Sweet time, Maimi updated writing that tomorrow would be the end of February, and that she’d continue to tanobaru tomorrow.
Kawaii girl Japan, Uta no Rakuen video comments
Maimi appears alongside her fellow ℃-ute members in a special “Kiss me Aishiteru” comment video for Kawaii girl Japan. They discuss their new single, becoming an adult, and their upcoming schedule. The video is subtitled in English, so most people can watch without fear of not being able to follow along.
Then, Maimi appears in a video with Airi, Mai, and “Uta no Rakuen” regular Tanaka Reina to give their comments on appearing on the show and performing Tanpopo’s “Tanpopo”.
Daily Maimi for 2/26: “Fujimoto-san Birthday”
For her update on the official ℃-ute blog, Maimi wrote that today is her senior Fujimoto Miki’s birthday, who she feels indebeted to for her advice and guidance in the Hello! Project futsal team “Gatas Brilhantes H.P.” Though she’s scary during practice and has often gotten mad, Maimi thinks that she looks cool when she’s playing futsal, and is happy to get advice from that Miki. When practice is finished, Miki returns to her smiling Miki, and Maimi also finds that transition cool. She wrote that situations where she can learn from her seniors are happy ones, and wished Miki a happy birthday. Maimi then wrote that she had a lot of radio announcements to make today: Her and Chisato will be on NACK5’s “HITS! THE TOWN” for a live public broadcast, Nacky and Mai will be live on FM Yokohama’s “AIR CRUISE”, Mai will appear live again on Nippon Broadcasting’s “Saturday Cutie Night Idol No.1”, and lastly herself and Mai will appear InterFM’s “76Rrecords”. It’s a lot to listen to, Maimi said, but she asked everyone to please listen. She also noted that Airi was busy with another job, and asked everyone to give Airi their support to. With that, she declared that she would go to in high-spirits.
At Sweet time, Maimi made an early update writing only “muscle pain”. She updated again after that asking everyone if they were doing alright with the pollen, and that she has found a good countermeasure for it, which is to declare “I don’t have hayfever!!”. Thanks to this, she says, her eyes aren’t itchy at all now. Maimi added that her muscle pain isn’t bad, so she’s doing fine. She then updated after her appearance on NACK5’s “HITS THE TOWN!”, saying that it when by quickly and thanking those who listened and those who came and watched (picture 3).
In addition, Maimi appeared in the 76Records blog (picture 4), where the show’s host, Kaoru, wrote that Maimi shared her favorite Western music artists with her.
Daily Maimi for 2/25: “Ran♪ Ran♪”
In her update on the official ℃-ute blog, Maimi wrote that today was the photoshoot for the flyer and the sword-fighting practice for her play “Ran -2011 New version!!-“, which runs from 5/22 to 5/29. Maimi had her face covered in black make-up for the photoshoot, which she thought was an amazing job by the make-up artist. After having the make-up applied, however, she had to be careful not to touch anything around her. Afterwards was the sword-fighting practice, and though it was only a short part, Maimi found herself running out of breath. Regardless, Maimi wrote that moving her body with all her power is fun. She also enjoyed the nostalgic atmosphere of the practice, and having so many of her old costars around again made the practice feel like one for last year’s play. In addition, Maimi met her new co-stars, which include Sugimoto Yumi, who Maimi thinks is very beautiful and has a cute atmosphere about her. All of this served to get Maimi fired up, as she vowed to work hard with a fighting spirit. Maimi then showed some pics of her wearing the nostalgic (though she notes that there’s probably people who haven’t seen it before) costume of Ran. She wrote that being able to wear the costume again makes her happy, and she looks forward to seeing the finished flyer. Lastly, she apologized for the late update, and wished everyone a good night.
At Sweet time, Maimi updated that the weather is warm today, but asked everyone to be careful that they don’t get sick when it gets cold again tomorrow. She later updated before the airing of her appearance on “S/mileage no Take Off”, and asked everyone to please listen to her and Yuuka’s chat.
Maimi on “Bijo Gaku” next week
Starting next week, and as previously mentioned in each of the girls’ blogs/Serends, Maimi will appear alongside Berryz Koubou’s “Captain” Shimizu Saki, Sudou Maasa, and fellow ℃-utie Hagiwara Mai in the “Extracurricular Lesson” segment of Hello! Project’s regular TV Tokyo show “Bijo Gaku”. The subject of their lessons will be “B-grade gourmet” canned foods. “Bijo Gaku” airs every Thursday at 1AM and the official website can be found here.

Daily Maimi for 2/24: “Chattering (o^-^)oo(^-^o)”
In her update on the official ℃-ute blog, Maimi wrote that she got to be on S/mileage’s fanclub web radio program “S/mileage no Take Off”. It was the first time for her to speak one-on-one with each of the S/mileage members like that, and she had a lot of fun. The program airs weekly on Friday at 10PM JST, and Maimi’s appearances will air over the course of the next 4 weeks starting tomorrow, which Maimi asked everyone to definitely tune-in for. On the subject of S/mileage, Maimi also mentioned their joint tour that begins on April 9th. Maimi thinks she’ll get a lot of motivation and be able to absorb a lot from S/mileage, and asked everyone to also come and spend time with them. Lastly, Maimi wrote about yesterday’s single release “Kiss me Aishiteru”. On it’s first day, it’s daily ranking was 4th and today it’s ranked 6th. She said it’s thanks to everyone’s support that they were able to accomplish that, and she expressed her gratitude. She hopes that those who empathize with the lyrics will think “I want to see a ℃-ute live!!” Maimi then shared a 2-shot with S/mileage’s Maeda Yuuka (picture 1) and a “Kiss me Aishiteru” release commemoration photo with the whole of ℃-ute (picture 2). She ended her entry saying that she’d continue to work hard tomorrow with a fighting spirit.
At Sweet time, Maimi updated that her stomach was full from completely polishing off a delicious meal, and asked everyone to guess what she ate from the picture (picture 3). She then revealed that the correct answer is “chicken and egg on rice”, and asked everyone if they thought it looks delicious (picture 4).
Daily Maimi for 2/23: “Please check”
In her update on the official ℃-ute blog, Maimi wrote that today is the release of ℃-ute’s 15th single “Kiss me Aishiteru”, and that she’s nervous about it. She explained that the theme of the song is “a girl who loves her boyfriend so much she’s become insecure”, and that both the song and the coupling track, “Hatachi Mae no Onna no Ko” have a symmetry with their lyrics and melodies. Maimi wrote that it’d be nice if a lot of people listened to the songs, and then changed the topic to her solo DVD “Umikaze”. She reminded everyone that the order window for the DVD closes at 11:59PM (which has already passed in Japan), and that the DVD is packed full of 18-year old Maimi. Reading all the comments from people saying “I’ve already ordered it!!” makes Maimi really happy, and she asked those who haven’t yet done so to please order it from the e-LineUP! site. She noted that she had one more bit of news to share, and it’s that her and Mai will be appearing FM FUJI’s “FEEL SO MUSE” radio program, where they will talk about their latest single. She asked everyone to definitely check it out, and said she’d continue to tanobaru today.
At Sweet time, Maimi’s first three updates were reminders of the “Kiss me Aishiteru” release, the solo DVD “Umikaze” order window closing, and her appearing with Mai on “FEEL SO MUSE”, and she asked everyone to definitely listen, order, and tune-in for those things. She then updated after “FEEL SO MUSE” had ended, and thanked everyone who came and watched and those who tuned-in to listen.
Daily Maimi for 2/22: “Congratulations♥ 4-year anniversary!!”
In her update on the official ℃-ute blog, Maimi wrote that while reading comments yesterday, she noticed some people congratulating her on the 4th anniversary of ℃-ute’s debut. Maimi thanked those people for the comments, and said that it was February 21st, 2007 when ℃-ute had their major debut single “Sakura Chirari”. She feels like these past four years have gone by in the blink of an eye, and since their debut ℃-ute has amassed a lot of songs. Maimi then shared some pictures from her cellphone that brought back a lot of memories for her: from their 2nd single “Meguru Koi no Kisetsu” (picture 1), their 3rd single “Tokaikko Junjou” (picture 2), and from their 5th single “Namida no Iro” (picture 3). Maimi reflected on the various types of songs that ℃-ute has gotten to sing, from cool songs to sad songs to songs with a Japanese style like “Edo no Temari Uta II”. She then expressed her gratitude to those who have supported ℃-ute since their start, those who found out about ℃-ute by chance and started to support them, and to those who just recently discovered ℃-ute. Maimi aims for ℃-ute to become a group that more and more people want to cheer for and give their love to, and she asked everyone to please “entertain them with a big love” (Ooki na Ai de Motenashite). She then wrote that she is going to run swiftly in ℃-ute’s 5th year since their major debut, and asked everyone to run with her. Lastly, Maimi asked everyone to take care of them forever.
At Sweet time, Maimi update that she was currently doing drawing for goods, and shared a picture of what she was working on (picture 4).
Maimi also made appearances in Berryz Koubou’s Captain’s official blog (picture 5), and a tweet by Up-Front Works’ Shuhei Miyachi reminding everyone of the deadline for “Umikaze” (picture 6).
Last days to order “Umikaze”
The official Hello! Project website has posted a notice that there’s only 2 days left to pre-order “Umikaze” from the e-LineUP! website. The website will stop taking orders for the DVD at 11:59PM JST on February 23rd.
“Umikaze” is Maimi’s 3rd solo image DVD, and is released as part of the e-Hello! series; A series of image DVDs featuring Hello! Project members that are available for order for a extremely limited time and only from the e-LineUP! website. Here’s the description of the DVD from the product listing, translated into English:
Giving the impression of South France, looking out at the sea from a building that stands on a small hill, Yajima Maimi shows her face as it is touched by the wind. The beauty shot filmed in the clear morning air is a scene you can’t take your eyes off of. Her long, slender legs visible as her clothing flutters in the sea breeze also have a lot of charm. There are various looks and outfits in this work, so please watch for a side of Maimi you haven’t seen before.
Lastly, there is also an interview recorded just before she turned 19-years old!
In addition, a short video digest of “Umikaze” has been uploaded to the official ℃-ute YouTube channel (which will probably be made private after the preorder window for the DVD ends, so make sure you check it out now):
The DVD itself will be around 50 minutes long, and is scheduled to ship out sometime in March after the preorder window ends. As mentioned in earlier updates, unfortunately the e-LineUP! site explicitly states that it doesn’t accept orders from outside of Japan, so the only way Western fans can get their hands on it is ordering through a proxy or buying it from an auction site after it’s shipped (both substantially more expensive methods).
Daily Maimi for 2/21: “Yesterday…”
In her update on the official ℃-ute blog, Maimi wrote that yesterday she recorded for the TV Tokyo program “Bijo Gaku” with Berryz Koubou members “Captain” Shimizu Saki, Sudou Maasa, and ℃-ute member Hagiwara Mai (picture 1). During the filming, there was an “unbelievable miracle” cased by Maasa which surprised everyone, including the staff. Maimi was also surprised by how curious Captain was, and told everyone to definitely check it out when it’s on-air. Also yesterday, Maimi received some belated birthday gifts from Captain and Maasa. Maasa gave her a parka and Captain gave her a pouch, both of which Maimi thought have a really cute design. The gifts made Maimi really happy, and she thanked both of them. Maimi then wrote that after she returned home yesterday, she instantly fell asleep, and ended up accidentally sleeping in the living room. When she suddenly woke up, there was a live broadcast of figure-skating on the TV. The particular performance was by Asada Mao, whom Maimi thought was beautiful and resembled a fairy. Noticing all the intricacies of Mao’s performance, Maimi became glued to her seat. She was also able to watch Andou Miki’s first place performance, which got over 200 points. Maimi wrote that she looks forward to cheering for the Japanese figure-skating team, but wondered if she’ll actually be able to watch it in real time. She’s not sure yet, but she’s still looking forward to it.
At Sweet time, Maimi updated that the weather today was nice and put her in a good mood. Later, she updated that she was transferring all her make-up to the new pouch that Captain had given to her.
Maimi to appear on upcoming “Bijo Gaku”
From posts made on Berryz Koubou’s captain Shimizu Saki’s blog (picture 1), Berryz Koubou’s Sudou Maasa’s Serend (picture 2), and fellow ℃-ute member Hagiwara Mai’s update at the official ℃-ute blog (picture 3), we have learned that Maimi will appear with those three in upcoming segments on Hello! Project’s TV Tokyo show “Bijo Gaku”. Unfortunately, none of the foursome are able to reveal what they will be doing on the show nor the date of airing yet. The official Bijo Gaku site can be seen here.
Daily Maimi for 2/20: “Buono!”
In her update on the official ℃-ute blog, Maimi wrote that she went and saw Buono!’s concert yesterday. She went together with Mai, and since everytime she goes to see a concert she gets the urge to have a concert herself, she went with Mai to karaoke beforehand and sang with all her might. Despite the trip to karaoke for the first time in a while, as expected Maimi still felt the desire to have a concert herself while watching Buono! perform. Maimi wrote that the three members of Buono! were cool, and she received a lot of good motivation from watching how they sang and danced, among other things. Since Maimi was unable to take a picture with the three of them, she took a picture with everyone who went (picture 1). On that subject, Maimi wrote that she was waiting at the meeting spot with Mai when she was contacted by Berryz Koubou’s Tokunaga Chinami. Chinami said to her, “Maimi~!! The meeting place, it looks like we’re going to meet on the other side of the street. Do you understand Maimi!?!?” Maimi responded, “Ah!! Yeah, I understand!! …Ah!! I see you, Chii! I’m heading over there now.” However, Chinami surprised Maimi by saying, “Eh. That’s probably not me!! Because I’m still riding in the taxi.” The girl Maimi saw turned out to be a stranger who she insisted looked like Chinami. Also at the concert, Maimi received Valentine’s sweets from Berryz Koubou’s captain, Shimizu Saki (picture 2), and from S/mileage’s Maeda Yuuka (picture 3), which she ate immediately. Lastly, Maimi wrote that she’s continue to tanobaru into the afternoon.
At Sweet time, Maimi expressed her admiration of figure skater Asada Mao and thought it was amazing and beautiful how she’s able to dance on the ice.
Daily Maimi for 2/19: “Finally enjoyment!!”
In her update on the official ℃-ute blog, wrote that her and Airi were given DVDs of the completed versions of their movies “Keitai Kanojo” and “Black Angels” (picture 1). Right away, Maimi watched the DVDs that day. Before watching the DVDs, Maimi was nervous and had a weird feeling like she wanted to watch hers, but she also didn’t want to watch it. So she enjoyed Airi’s movie “Keitai Kanojo” first. During the filming, the two of them had said that they’d watch their movies together first, but ended up not being able to due to a lack of time, and they instead promised to watch them again together after seeing them seperately. Maimi thought that Airi was cool while acting, and could tell that she worked hard in the scenes that she told Maimi she was worried about. Afterwards, with her nervousness still lingering, Maimi finally watched her movie “Black Angels”. Since she knew everything that happened behind-the-scenes, Maimi couldn’t enjoy the movie normally and instead kept thinking about stuff like where they filmed and events that happened during filming, and also ended up really studying everyone’s performances. Once the DVD is released, Maimi wrote that she definitely wants to know what everyone’s thoughts are. She reminded everyone that “Keitai Kanojo” comes out on April 7th and “Black Angels” comes out on April 27th, and asked everyone to definitely check them out.
At Sweet time, Maimi wrote that she had gone to Buono!’s concert (picture 2), and that it got her excited and in the mood to have a concert herself.
Daily Maimi for 2/18: “Surprise”
In her update on the official ℃-ute blog, Maimi wrote that she met with one of her close friends for the first time in awhile. When she went to her friend’s house they surprised her with a cake and party poppers to celebrate her birthday from the 7th. Her and her friend were having a fun time talking, when her friend had another surprise for her; She had decorated the room they used to relax in as children. For Maimi’s sake, she spent a lot of effort cutting paper and pasting it together (picture 1), and pinning flowers on the curtain one-by-one (picture 2), despite being busy with tests recently. Maimi was really surprised, moved, and happy, and said that her close friend is really amazing. The two of them talked nonstop since they haven’t met in awhile, and they all ate the cake together. It was a really fun and “HAPPY” day for Maimi, and she thanked her friend.
At Sweet time, Maimi expressed her surprise at how strong the wind was today.
